Privacy Policy

The short version

The files you process with OfficeUtils's tools are never uploaded anywhere. They're read and processed on your own device. Limited technical and page-view data may be processed when you use the site. Every tool is free during early access, and OfficeUtils does not process payment or purchase information. Details below.

Who operates this site

OfficeUtils is operated by Rasith Upamal, an individual based in Sri Lanka, not a registered company. Rasith Upamal is the person responsible for the processing described in this policy. For privacy questions, contact privacy@officeutils.app.

Your files

Every tool on this site runs entirely in your browser (or, for the extension, a local worker on your device). Your files never leave your device: there's no upload step, no server-side processing, and no file storage. You can verify this yourself, see How this works for the exact steps.

Information we collect

Hosting and security data

When your browser requests the site, Cloudflare processes ordinary request information such as your IP address, browser details, requested page, and request time to deliver and protect the site. We use this information for security, reliability, and abuse prevention. This traffic does not include the files you open in a tool.

Aggregate site analytics

If our Cloudflare Web Analytics beacon is enabled, it sends page-view, referral, device, browser, country, and performance information to Cloudflare. It does not use analytics cookies or track you across unrelated sites. Cloudflare provides us aggregated reports rather than profiles of individual visitors. If the beacon is not configured, OfficeUtils does not send these analytics events.

Anonymous product events

The current site creates a small set of events inside your browser, such as which tool ran. These are DOM events used by the interface and automated tests. They are not sent to us or stored by us. They never contain file names or file contents. We will update this policy before enabling any endpoint that collects product events.

If you email us

We receive your email address, message, and anything else you choose to send. We use it to reply, provide support, keep appropriate records, and handle legal or security issues.

Why we process information

We process limited personal information as needed to provide the site, protect the service and our legitimate interests in security and reliability, comply with legal obligations, and respond to messages. Where the law requires consent, we rely on consent and you may withdraw it at any time.

Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers to run this site:

• Cloudflare, for hosting, security, and optional cookieless analytics.

We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We may disclose limited information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a transfer of the service, subject to appropriate protections.

International processing

We operate from Sri Lanka, and our providers may process information in other countries. Privacy protections can differ between countries. Where applicable law requires it, we use an approved transfer mechanism or other appropriate safeguard.

How long we keep information

We do not currently hold account, license, or purchase records. We normally keep support correspondence for up to 24 months after the issue is closed, but may keep it longer for legal, security, or dispute purposes.

Cloudflare sets the retention periods for hosting and analytics data under its policies. Product events described above are not transmitted or retained by us. We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, then delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Email privacy@officeutils.app to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. These rights can have legal exceptions. Your files never reach us and we hold no account or purchase records, so a request will usually concern correspondence. You may also complain to the privacy or data protection authority where you live.

Children's privacy

OfficeUtils is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Security

Keeping file contents on your device removes the main file-transfer risk. We also use reasonable technical and organisational measures for the limited information described here. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide a more prominent notice where reasonably possible. We will request consent if a new use requires it by law.
